Who we are
Meridian Math (“Meridian”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Onyx Core Enterprises. This policy covers meridian-math.org, the Meridian reader and our founding-families waitlist.
The short version
- We collect only what we need: today that’s mainly the email address you give us to join the waitlist.
- We don’t show ads, we don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t use tracking or advertising cookies.
- We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. Accounts, when they launch, will belong to parents.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
Information we collect
When you join the founding-families waitlist
Your email address, and, only if you choose to give them, your state and your children’s grade levels (for example “6–8”). We also note which form you used. We don’t ask for your children’s names, ages or any other details about them.
When you email us
Your email address and whatever you include in your message.
When you use the reader
Your reading progress, completed sections, highlights, text size and light or dark theme are saved in your own browser (local storage), on your device. They aren’t sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
When you try the AI tutor demo
The answers and questions you type are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate the tutor’s reply. We don’t store these conversations. Your IP address is held briefly in memory to limit how many demo questions can be asked per day, and is not saved. Please don’t type personal information into the tutor.
Technical information
Like any website, our hosting provider receives standard request information (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver pages and protect the site. We don’t run analytics or advertising trackers.
Cookies
We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies. When a student opens a course section through a link from their school, we set one functional cookie that remembers their access for up to one day. Your theme and reading settings are kept in local storage on your device, not in cookies.
How we use information
- To send launch news, your founding-families invitation and founding pricing.
- To decide which courses to build next and where to apply for ESA (Education Savings Account) approval, using state and grade levels in aggregate.
- To answer your questions.
- To run, secure and fix the site.
We won’t use your email for anything unrelated to Meridian, and every email we send will tell you how to stop receiving them.
Who helps us run Meridian
We share information only with service providers that help us operate the site, and only what they need:
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Supabase stores the waitlist database.
- OpenAI generates replies for the AI tutor demo.
- Google Fonts and a public content delivery network serve some fonts and math typesetting to your browser.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users. If Meridian is ever sold or merged, we’ll require the new owner to honor this policy or tell you before anything changes.
Children’s privacy
Meridian’s courses are designed for students, but our website and waitlist are for parents and educators. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Before we launch student accounts, we’ll update this policy to explain exactly how they work. Accounts will be owned by a parent, we’ll collect as little about children as possible, and we’ll obtain parental consent as required by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Schools and universities
When a school or university uses Meridian, student information is handled under our agreement with that institution and applicable law, including FERPA, and is used only to provide the course. We’re glad to sign a data processing agreement with institutions that need one.
How long we keep information
We keep waitlist information until Meridian launches and for as long as you stay on our list after that. If you ask to be removed, we delete your information. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to help you.
Security
The site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Waitlist data sits in a database that can’t be read from a browser; only our server can add to it, and only we can view it. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect so there’s less to protect.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what we have about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can leave the waitlist at any time. Email contact@onyxenterprises.org and we’ll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have additional rights; we honor them for everyone.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page when our practices change, and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you’ve already given us, we’ll email you before it takes effect.
